All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Education launches call for evidence over the loss of the love of learning.

Not the normal sort of article from WhichMIS? but we’ve been made aware that The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Education has launched a call for evidence into the loss of the love of learning.

Increases in absenteeism, home-schooling, behavioural challenges and a decline in both student and teacher mental health have contributed to concerns that education no longer fosters a love for learning and teaching.

As people stay in both education and work for longer, it is essential that the education system cultivates curiosity and a desire for continuous lifelong learning.

The inquiry seeks to understand whether there is a decline in the love of learning and will provide practical recommendations for policymakers, teachers, parents and young people.

Chair of the Education APPG Steve Witherden MP

“Today we are launching an inquiry into the loss of a love of learning. We want to hear from teachers, parents, students, and anyone else involved in education.

Education is currently in crisis. More and more students are being home-schooled, attendance is falling and concerns around SEND and mental health for staff and pupils are rising.

We want your input on how we can reignite the love of learning”

The call for evidence opened last month until Tuesday, 22 April 2025.

BESA encourages any stakeholder with an interest in education to consider submitting into the call for evidence.
