Cloud-based Management Information System (MIS) for schools launches in Welsh language
‘London, UK, 13 March 2024: IRIS Software Group (IRIS) has today announced that it has released a Welsh language version of its popular cloud-based MIS, IRIS Ed:gen, for schools and local authority (LA) maintained educational establishments in Wales. This is the first cloud-based system of its kind to be made available in Welsh.
With 30 years’ experience in education technology and a presence in 90 countries, IRIS Ed:gen now seamlessly takes users between the English and Welsh languages, and the system is fully compliant with Welsh statutory returns and curriculum requirements.
There are over 1,400 schools in Wales, many of which use some form of MIS system to streamline their administrative processes across data management, attendance tracking, behaviour management, assessments and statutory submissions. The ability to cross reference pupil data and spot trends can have a significant impact on education outcomes. The MIS system therefore is an essential tool for effective school management.
Commenting on the news, Simon Freeman, Managing Director for Education at IRIS said: “We are committed to supporting schools and LAs in Wales who feel like they have not had a choice in the past about which MIS to use. Many wish to move to a modern cloud-based solution but Welsh language options are scarce. Our MIS also tightly integrates with our other cloud-based education applications across HR, payroll, finance, compliance and parental engagement, to smooth the flow of data and make public sector resources go further.”
IRIS is working in partnership with schools and LAs in Wales to shape future requirements of its products. Learn more here: www.iris.co.uk/l/welsh-mis.’
We look forward to seeing other MIS providers soon also having Welsh language versions available to support the schools in Wales and offer them choice in this important sector.
