Navigating the future of MIS: The Blog Competition

Our colleagues at The Wisdom Partnership, working with Bromcom, are running a competition to find out what staff on the front line in schools and MATs think about the way in which their MIS (Management Information System) affects things in their schools.

The competition, (full details can be found here), is seeking short articles on any of the following subjects:

Application of AI in MIS:

Let your imagination run free and let us know how you see AI making a big difference for you and the education of children. This may involve talking about the technology involved (e.g. predictive analytics software), about automating administration / communications or about integrating adaptive learning platforms and customising learning pathways for pupils.

Open Systems & Data Migration Issues:

Issues such as open systems and the migration of MIS data, long-term contractual commitments, disputes over alleged intellectual property when using MIS backup in the migration process and the application of new conditions in MIS licenses.

SSUs & Revenue Sharing & Referral Fees:

Questions have been voiced about revenue sharing and referral fees for MIS school support units (SSUs), raising significant questions for schools and trusts alike about the potential impact on Local Authorities’ (LAs’) impartiality, transparency and above all, about ethics and ethos in the public procurement process.

Value for Money & Procurement:

The need for increased awareness and adherence to procurement regulation by schools, MATS and LAs, to secure value for money given the lessons learned from the United Learning Trust case (see links below) and the pros and cons of suppliers challenging procurements by MATs and LAs.

Each blog should be between 500 and 750 words, with clarity, originality, and practical examples at its core. This is your opportunity to not just reflect but to inspire action across the sector.

As people who have had long careers working with schools, local government and in the EdTech space, we’ve witnessed first-hand how the right tools can transform schools. Today as the technological challenges facing our schools grow more complex, the role of Management Information Systems (MIS) has become not just a support function but a cornerstone of effective education leadership.

That’s why we are excited that our colleagues at The Wisdom Partnership are partnering with Bromcom Computers PLC (Bromcom) to introduce the Bromcom Blog Competition. This competition is a call to educators across England to reflect, share, and celebrate best practice in using MIS platforms to elevate education.

We hope that educators across the sector will take part and look forward to seeing the views of the sector on this important area.
