Summer MIS releases

Now we’re in the summer holiday period, we thought it worth asking what release plans MIS providers have.

UK Management Information System (MIS) providers must continuously update their products to keep pace with the rapidly evolving technological landscape and the dynamic needs of their users.

In an environment where data security, user experience, and compliance with regulatory standards are paramount, stagnation can lead to vulnerabilities and obsolescence.

Regular updates ensure that MIS platforms remain secure against emerging cyber threats, incorporate the latest technological advancements, and align with changes in educational or business regulations.

This commitment to continual improvement not only enhances the functionality and reliability of the systems but also strengthens customer trust and satisfaction.

Additionally, by integrating feedback from users, MIS providers can address pain points and introduce innovative features that streamline operations, thereby providing a competitive edge in a crowded market.

Launching updates during the summer is particularly advantageous for MIS providers.

The summer break represents a period of reduced activity, allowing for system upgrades to be implemented with minimal disruption to users.

Schools can test new features and ensure that staff are trained on any changes before the start of the new academic year.

This timing also allows MIS providers to offer comprehensive support and address any teething issues that may arise, ensuring a smooth transition and optimal performance when normal activities resume.

As always, we ask all suppliers the same questions and we list MIS supplier responses received in strict alphabetical order, however in response to this question we received the following four replies, being:

Key focuses for the summer:

  • Using Arbor AI to enhance cover and attendance workflows
  • Improvements to payments both for schools and parents
  • Better centralisation and reporting of data for MATs
  • Statutory updates including work to support schools with new attendance tracking requirements
  • Overall improvements to search and navigation across school and group MIS

Roadmap

Here is the link to Bromcom’s roadmap, with planned future developments: https://docs.bromcom.com/product-portfolio/bromcom-roadmap-2024/

We are releasing the new version of our Bromcom parent app, MyChildAtSchool (MCAS).

We have focused solely on enhancing the user interface, meaning all the features you know, and love will still be available.

In partnership with Google and Apple, this will be a phased rollout over the next few weeks.

We would like to spotlight two features.

First, our Voting component enables schools to carry out secure and convenient elections for the school governing body or any school-related elections, ensuring that everyone can cast their votes efficiently and on time.

Our communication platform incorporates an integrated AI function that aids staff in composing messages. This feature allows staff to generate messages based on a single prompt, saving them valuable time.

Developments – We are working on the GO 4 Schools MIS so we are ready to start working with pilot schools in October 2024.

Aiming to have the MIS general release available for March 2025.

We are currently working with existing GO 4 Schools customers but will commence talking to other interested schools in 2025.

Our MIS will initially focus on core MIS features and integrating with other ‘specialist’ third party providers, enabling schools to select for the option of the best products available.
